Bradley Public Library District Board of Trustees met July 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Bayer called the meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public Library District to order at 6:01 P.M.

Present: Trustees Bayer, Hendrickson, Ponton, Rodgers and Grace Absent: Benoit

Also present: J. DePatis, Director and J.Ponton, Recording Secretary

President Bayer appointed Trustee Rodgers as acting secretary.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Moved by Trustee Grace, seconded by Trustee Rodgers, that

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JUNE 24, 2020 BE APPROVED AS SUBMITTED

PUBLIC COMMENT - None TREASURER’S REPORT

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Grace, that 

TREASURER’S REPORT FOR JUNE BE ACCEPTED AS SUBMITTED

VENDOR PAYMENTS

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Rodgers that:

BILLS TOTALLING $50,582.03 ALLOWED AND PAID FOR JUNE

DIRECTOR’S REPORT

Director DePatis stated the following:

Legal:

The 2% Building and Maintenance Levy Ordinance has been posted and published in the Daily Journal on June 30, 2020. Petitions are available at the circulation desk if requested.

Personnel:

Katelyn Norton has been hired for the Youth Services Assistant position. Her first day was June 29th.

Pages have been informed of the position elimination as of August 1, 2020.

A new COVID-19 employee health questionnaire process has been implemented.

Collection Development:

Hoopla, the new digital service, is up and ready to use. Staff are learning how to use it before we start promoting it to the public beginning the week of July 20th.

Programs:

This is the last week of Summer Reading program. All in all it has gone pretty well even with having to do a 180 degree turn due to COVID-19.

The 2nd Summer Family Market is Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 5-7pm. It will be drive- through like last time.

Grants and Donations:

Bradley Public Library received a donation of $707.92 from The Ross Stores Foundation as a result of their February 2020 Boys & Girls Club of America fundraiser. The money is to be spent for youth programs.

The Bradley Public Library received a FY2021 Project Next Generation grant through the Illinois State Library totaling $20,670.00. The project, entitled Teen Tech meet Tech Junior, is both a continuation of a FY2019 PNG grant that established the Teen Techs program and propsedan expansion to create a separate program for elementary students, Tech Junior. Laser cutting technology and beginning entrepreneurial skills will be introduced in the Teen Tech program while the Tech Junior program will focus on coding and beginning robotics.

Stats:

May- circulation: 627, items added: 251, new patrons: 5, Digital Library of IL: 904 circs and 13 new users

June- circulation 1,807, items added: 311, new patrons: 3, Digital Library of IL: 1,000 circs & 17 new users

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Moved by Trustee Hendrickson and seconded by Trustee Grace to approve the working budget for the fiscal year 2020-2021

Motion carried by roll call vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent

Copies of the proposed working budget for the fiscal year 2021-2022 was presented and distributed to the trustees.

The proposed fiscal year 2021-2022 levy was presented and distributed to the trustees.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Re-opening the Bradley Public Library due to Coronavirus for limited number of walk-ins has begun.

NEW BUSINESS:

Moved by Trustee Rodgers and seconded by Trustee Ponton to approve the updated FOIA policy for fiscal year 2020-2021

Motion carried by unanimous vote

An audit of the secretary’s minutes was conducted for the fiscal year 2019-2020.

Trustee Hendrickson moved for adjournment at 6:40PM.
