City of Momence City Council met Oct. 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 N. Dixie Highway, Momence. Alderman Cook called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Cook, Temple, Rehmer and Cope. Alderman Carbonaro absent.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Cook made motion to approve the minutes of the, October 5, 2020 council meeting. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed during committee meeting. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

CITIZENS FORUM –

OLD BUSINESS –Jake Salomone – Discuss Bond Refinancing – received info from the bank, looking at a 20000.00 saving. We are waiting on communication with IDOT for the MFT approval. Census has ended, and thank you for all the help. Self-response was 72.4%

Nova Metz – Jake and Nova will be meeting with Baxter/Woodman to discuss water/sewer rates on Wednesday.

ALDERMANIC REPORTS –

1. Tom Temple – Discuss Trick or Treat Hours. Alderman Temple made motion to approve Halloween hours to be 4PM – 7PM. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook, Temple and Rehmer voting yes.

2. John Rehmer – Happy Birthday to Sue Lincoln. Police committee - Lt. Strunk has been here for 3 years. 1.785% raise to 28.50 per hour. Alderman Rehmer made motion to approve, Alderman Cope seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook, Temple and Rehmer voting yes.

Chief is looking to get authorization to hire another officer possibly as soon as December.

Alderman Rehmer made motion to approve, Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook, Temple and Rehmer voting yes.

Chief indicated that the PD has roof leaks. Alderman Rehmer made motion to approve to seek bids, Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook, Temple and Rehmer voting yes.

Scott – been replacing the burnt-out street lights, many on the bridge that cannot be reached. Nova Metz – Public Works meeting 6PM November 2.

Jake Salomone – BF meeting November 2, 7:15PM

Treasurer report –

Department Heads – Scott –October 27 chipping will stop

MAYORAL REPORT –

1. Discuss and Vote on appointment of Romell Huddelston to Plan Commission/Plan Zone to fill vacancy. Alderman Cook made motion to approve, Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook, Temple and Rehmer voting yes.

2. Discuss and Vote on appointment for City Liaison - Alderman Rehmer made motion to approve Steve Gross as City Liaison. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Alderman Salomone, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook, Temple and Rehmer voting yes.

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn, Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Clark, Cope, Cook, Temple and Rehmer voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 7:49 PM
