Kankakee County Sheriff issued the following announcement on Apr. 29.
Sheriff’s Investigators are asking for the community’s assistance regarding a Home Invasion that occurred yesterday (4/28/2021) at approximately 1:15 PM in Manteno. In the 8400 North block of 1000 East Rd in Manteno (just west of Interstate 57), four males approached a residence, attempting to appear as though they were affiliated with a utility company. The subjects forced their way into the residence where a struggle ensued with the homeowner and one of the subjects, while the others went through the home. They left after the homeowner was able to call 911. They left northbound on Interstate 57 in a dark grey Dodge Caravan with black rims. One of the men was wearing a neon-green hat (possibly a Hammerlane brand), which is seen from still images obtained from the residence.
