Bradley Public Library District Board of Trustees Met June 16.

President Bayer called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public Library District to order at 6:00 P.M..

Present: Trustees Bayer, Benoit, Diamond, Edme, Hendrickson, Rodgers

Absent: Trustee Ponton

Also present: J. DePatis, Director, Terri Jones (prospective trustee)

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Moved by Trustee Hendrickson, seconded by Trustee Rodgers that

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF 5/19/2021 BE APPROVED AS SUBMITTED Motion carried by unanimous vote

PUBLIC COMMENT - None

TREASURER’S REPORT

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Edme, that

TREASURER’S REPORT FOR MAY BE ACCEPTED AS SUBMITTED 

Motion carried by roll call vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent

VENDOR PAYMENTS

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Diamond, that:

BILLS TOTALLING $ 39,725.32 ALLOWED AND PAID FOR MAY

DIRECTOR’S REPORT:

11 new readers were registered and 4,285 items were issued in May.

Receipts: $314.89: fines on overdue books; $153.00: fax; $366.55: copies; $37.00 lost/damaged; non-resident cards: $.00; misc: $184.00

Expenses: $6.80

Director DePatis stated the following: More patrons have been coming in the library since the return of the furniture. OCLC contract has been completed, as well as the annual village registration. The payroll audit for insurance is completed.

Continuing Education: Director DePatis attended the HR Roundtable.

Personnel: Jonalee Lucas has resigned. Barbara Dubravec has been hired for the 30-hour Children’s Department position and Maggie Walsh has been hired as a circulation clerk.

Programs: The Summer Reading Program, Reading Colors Your World, has begun. The program will run June 12 – July 24 and will include both virtual and in person activities. Breakfast and lunch distribution began June 9 and is served via drive- through pick-ups. The Summer Markets will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, July 1, Wednesday, July 14, and Wednesday, August 4. They will be held in the drive-through manner.

The website is near completion, and the face-out shelving project in the Children’s department is progressing.

THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT  FOR MAY BE ACCEPTED 

Motion carried by unanimous vote.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Friends of the Library Liaison: The Friends have set the dates for a book sale: August 26-27-28. They are accepting donations of gently used books.

Personnel Committee: Met on June 14 to discuss the salary schedule for FY 2021-2022, reflecting the upgrade for the minimum wage, using 2000 fewer hours than last year, with an estimated high salary budget line item of $365, 000.

Moved by Trustee Diamond, seconded by Trustee Rodgers to accept the FY2021-2022 salary schedule. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Corona virus update: Masks are still required and this requirement will be re-evaluated after summer reading. Furniture is back; computers are still socially distant; one study room is available; some in-person programs are being hosted in the Drassler Room; the water fountain is open.

NEW BUSINESS:

Ordinance 21-01: Building and Maintenance Levy FY2022-23 was discussed.

Moved by Trustee Rodgers and seconded by Diamond to approve Ordinance 21-01.

Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Public Hearing for the FY 2022-23 Budget and Appropriations Ordinance has been set for Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 6 P.M.

Moved by Trustee Benoit, seconded by Trustee Rodgers to keep the closed meeting minutes closed. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Trustee vacancy: Terri Jones expressed interest in the trustee opening. Trustees interviewed her. There is another person interested in this opening who will attend the July board meeting.

COMMUNICATIONS: None.

Trustee Hendrickson moved for adjournment at 6:48PM.
