Onu Theatre Presents Fall 2021 Season

Olivet Nazarene University issued the following announcement on Sept. 17

Olivet Nazarene University’s Theatre department is underway for the fall 2021 season! A variety of shows will be brought to the stage this theatre season.

This season ONU Theatre is eager to perform for live audiences by celebrating the art of storytelling. The director of ONU Theatre, Professor Ashley Sarver ‘15/ ‘18 MBA, emphasized the learning that her students will gain through this year’s productions. 

“Through our productions students develop critical thinking, collaboration and better communication skills," she said. "There is no other art form like live theatre.”

Tickets for all productions are available at olivet.edu/tickets. ONU Theatre will present the following productions during the fall 2021 semester:

Detective Holmes by Manjarres, Meyer, Oommen, Sarver & Vander Schaaf

Directed by Professor Ashley Sarver

Performances: Friday, Sept. 17 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The Hiding Place by A.S. Peterson

Directed by Professor Sarver

Performances: Friday, Oct. 22, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 23, 1 p.m.; Thursday, Oct. 28, 7 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 29, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 30, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“The Hiding Place” is a new adapted play telling the story of a Dutch watchmaker’s journey as she experiences the tragedy of the Holocaust and the power and faithfulness of Jesus.

Little Women Adapted by Marisha Chamberlain

Student-Directed by Mollie Peery

Performances: Thursday, Nov. 18, 7 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 19, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 20, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“Little Women'' is a dramatized adaptation of the classic novel of four young March sisters struggling to keep their family going while Father’s away in the Civil War.

Midwinter by Mary Dale McClure

Directed by Professor Sarver

Performances: Thursday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 3, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 4, 2 p.m.

“Midwinter” follows a group of young women from all different parts of the world, trapped at a train station on Christmas Eve. They are drawn together and find joy as they each realize the true meaning of Christmas. Familiar Christmas hymns are featured throughout.
