Olivet Nazarene University issued the following announcement on Oct. 21
Members of the Olivet Nazarene University Office of Alumni and University Relations have been busy planning various events for the Olivet community this fall. Within the past five years the alumni office has hosted more than 50 events, and its staff are excited to announce more opportunities to connect this year than ever before.
Austin Brown ’19, associate director of Alumni and University Relations, highlighted new developments within Olivet Advocacy and introduced a new networking platform, Olivet Connect.
“The goal of Olivet Advocacy will always be creating meaningful opportunities for alumni to ‘think’ and ‘speak’ Olivet, whether through recommending high school students, helping recent graduates find jobs and make connections, or helping churches stay up-to-date with Olivet news” said Austin.
More than 5,000 high school students have been recommended to Olivet since September 2020, and this number continues to grow. This year’s Homecoming & Family Weekend will also debut a new highlighted feature within the Olivet Advocacy program. This new feature will give a $2,000 scholarship to a high school senior who has been recommended to apply through the Olivet advocacy program.
The Olivet Advocacy Network was recognized for its effectiveness in connecting alumni earlier this year in receiving a bronze award in the Alumni Relations category of the 2021 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Excellence Awards.

A new website for alumni was launched on October 1. The new website was made to foster community for Olivet alumni. Since the launch of the platform, more than 500 users have visited the site.
“The site features an alumni directory, alumni-owned business directory, a job board, and various affinity groups for people living in the same area or with similar interests (like our Certified Financial Planners group),” said Austin.
A mentorship section is also included. “Olivet Connect is more than just a place for Olivet news. It is the premier place for alumni and friends to experience and benefit from the Olivet network.”
