Kankakee County Community Services Committee met Aug. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The meeting of the Kankakee County Community Services Committee was called to order by Committee Chairman, Mrs. Webber at 9:00am. The following  members were present: 

Mrs. Webber, Mrs. Polk, Mr. Snipes, Mrs. Peters, Mr. Kerkstra, Mr. Ekhoff, Mr. Carrico, Mr.  Darrel Smith, Ms. Bryan, Ms. Hudson Mr. Kenneth Smith, Mr. Alexander-Hildebrand, Mr.  Wheeler 

Members Absent – Mr. Tholen, Mr. Sirois, Mrs. Parker 

Quorum – Present 

Department Heads Present – John Coghlan, Lori Gadbois, Dan Hendrickson, Anita Speckman,  Kari Laird, Erich Blair, Theresa Goudie 

Media Present – None 

Public Commentary – None 

Presentations - None 

Minutes of the Last Meeting 

The minutes of June 15, 2021 and July 20, 2021 were submitted to the committee. 

Ms. Webber stated that she would combine and approve all the reports and minutes with a  motion. 

A motion to combine and approve the County Clerks report, Assessors report, Recorders  report, Animal Control report, minutes of June 15, 2021 and the minutes from July 20,  2021 was made by Mr. Carrico and seconded by Ms. Hudson. Motion carried by voice vote. 

County Clerk 

Monthly Report 

Mr. Hendrickson, County Clerk, reviewed the monthly report with the committee. There were no questions from the committee regarding the reports. 

Mr. Hendrickson stated that the new voting machines will be here and training will start for his  staff and for election judges. 

Mr. Hendrickson summarized polling places within the county. Discussions were held.

Assessor 

Monthly Report 

Mr. Blair, Assessor, reviewed the monthly reports with the committee and updated them on  upcoming items. 

Mr. Blair advised that the published changes of assessments will be published in the first week of  September. Discussions were held. 

Recorder 

Monthly Report 

Ms. Gadbois, Kankakee County Recorder, reviewed the monthly report with the committee.  Discussions were held. 

New Website 

Ms. Gadbois provided the committee with a tour of the County Recorder’s new website and the  features that it offers the public. 

Animal Control  

Monthly Report 

Ms. Laird, Animal Control Director, reviewed the monthly report with the committee,  highlighting areas of the report. Discussions were held. 

Monthly Statistical Data 

Ms. Laird, Animal Control Director, reviewed the monthly statistical data with the committee.  Ms. Laird stated that newspapers and cat foods are needed at Animal Control. Ms. Laird and Ms. Webber discussed a new Animal Control building. 

Mr. Wheeler spoke about discussing the amount that is available from Animal Control funds for  the building funding. 

Animal Welfare Advisory Committee 

Monthly Update 

Mrs. Parker was not present for an update.

Adjournment 

Mr. Kerkstra made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:39 a.m. Ms. Hudson seconded  the motion. Motion carried by a voice vote.
