Olivet Nazarene University issued the following announcement on Nov. 30
The Office of Career Development at Olivet Nazarene University is continuously offering job and internship opportunities for students. The ONU Engineering and Technology Virtual Career Fair was held Nov. 1-5. The fair included representatives from companies including Illinois Department of Transportation (IDoT), Nucor and more. A representative from the National Security Agency (NSA) also attended the fair for the first time in Olivet’s history.
This fair was attended by 40 engineering and science-related majors, and more than 75 individual meetings were held between students and various company representatives.
Sophomore engineering student Matt Bair attended and was able to connect with various companies.
He said of the experience, “The career fair helped me to find a job opportunity at IDoT that I didn’t think existed. I found out more about what they do and specifically about an internship that perfectly combines construction management and engineering. I’m so happy I was able to attend and it made me really excited to apply.”
On Nov. 8, another engineering and science-related event featuring Caterpillar was held. This event provided personal feedback throughout the job application process while also highlighting job opportunities at Caterpillar. David Milam, product manager at Caterpillar and parent of a current Olivet student and recent graduate, reached out to Olivet in hopes to connect with students. Ten students attended and walked away with great takeaways.
In spring 2022, the first in-person career fair since COVID-19 will be held at Olivet. With an outstanding 96% of recent graduates employed, enrolled in grad school, or serving in the military or mission field within six months of graduation, Olivet continues to equip students for the next steps.
