Alleged cop killer Darius Sullivan’s life in crime crossed paths with the Momence Police on several occasions prior to his alleged killing of one police officer and the injuring of another.

Sullivan, 25, and his girlfriend Xandria Harris, 26, are being held on murder charges in the death of Bradley Police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and attempted murder charges in the injury of her partner Tyler Bailey, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The officers were alleged to have been gunned down by a rifle-wielding Sullivan who then — according to body camera footage — allegedly took Rittmanic’s service pistol and executed her with it at close range.

Momence Police released documents recounting Sullivan’s various run-ins with its department.

Among the accounts was a “suspicious activity” complaint dated Jan. 13, 2016 alleging Sullivan sold marijuana while on the job at Van Drunen Farm as recounted to police by a co-worker.

The man admitting to buying marijuana from Sullivan, noted he purchased a “dub of loud,” a slang term for high-grade marijuana.

Police did a drive-by at Sullivan’s home, noting his vehicle and Xandria Harris’ but no further action appears to have been taken.

On Feb. 5, 2016, police were called to the shared residence at 406 Hickory Court in Momence for a domestic dispute.

Sullivan reportedly called police after he and Harris got into a dispute about – according to the police officer’s notes – “where he had been all night and what he was doing.”

Sullivan told police “he did not know exactly how to handle the situation, so he called police to help settle the matter.” Harris reportedly left the home that night and stayed elsewhere.

On March 23, 2015 Harris was stopped for having suspended plates on her vehicle.

Sullivan, who was in the car at the time, had to be restrained by police after the car was towed away due to several violations.

“Both Harris and Sullivan were released on scene and began to walk away from the scene,” the police report reads. “As they walked away Sullivan became eve more verbally aggressive. Sullivan was handcuffed for our safety and patted down for weapons.”

In that incident Harris was also cited for operating a motor vehicle with suspended license plates and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

Another incident report dated May 20, 2016 cited Harris, then 20, as the parent-guardian of her younger sister who allegedly stole a bicycle from a local boy.

The Kankakee Sheriff’s Office refused a request from the Kankakee Times for similar arrest records.

Sullivan, 25, had been arrested 21 times and charged with 43 felonies in Kankakee County before being charged with murder. Sullivan's lengthy criminal record was published by the Kankakee Times.
