City of Watseka Public Works Committee met Jan. 18.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
PRESENT: Aldermen Miller, Garfield, Barragree, Cahoe, Marcier, Rushbrook, Alderwoman Ulfers and Mayor Allhands and Alderwoman Musk via phone
GUEST: Public Works Supervisor Dustin Standish
Alderman Miller opened the meeting at 7:41 pm. There was no public comment. Public Works Supervisor Dustin Standish reported on the following:
Streets: ran street sweeper, cleared storm inlets, performed restorations on dig sites, located wires for downtown lights. Dustin stated B&D is scheduled to be here on Friday to fix the lights in the downtown area that were hit by the boring company. It should take about 6-7 hours to fix the problem. Dustin also stated 100 tons of the 300 tons of salt that was ordered was delivered.
Sewer: cammed the sewer line at Riverside Ambulance station
Parks: emptied garbage and swept path
Miscellaneous: Dustin stated he promoted Austin Kidwell and Jason Langellier to foreman’s and he would like to increase their rate of pay. Austin is currently at $21.28/hour and he would like the increase to be $27/hour and Jason’s current rate is $22.04 and he would like the increase to be $28/hour. Dustin stated they are both great leaders and are a real asset to the department. There was discussion about union and putting this in next years budget. Alderwoman Musk asked if pay raises weren’t just given and Dustin stated yes but he wants to increase these 2 because of the foreman status. There was discussion about why 2 foremen’s instead of just 1. It was also stated the city needs to check with the city attorney. There was also discussion of how many employees are at public works and water/wastewater. This will be put on the agenda for full council next week.
Work Report: 70 locates, 8 sewer jettings, 4 sewer repairs.
Alderman Miller makes a motion to adjourn at 7:58 pm and Alderman Garfield seconded. Roll call carried 9-0.
