City of Momence City Council met Jan. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey and Strunk present. Aldermen Cook and Temple were absent.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the minutes of the, December 20, 2021. Alderman Strunk seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey and Strunk voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Strunk seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey and Strunk voting yes.

CITIZENS FORUM – Nova Metz inquiring on what was happening with the water/sewer rates. Mayor indicated that the council is still working on the issues. Also, Nova wanted to give a thank you to the Momence Fire Department for their hard work with the Vandrunen Fire.

OLD BUSINESS – Alderman Starkey worked on a draft letter for the water rates. There will be approximately a 40.6% increase per residence, still waiting on the ordinance.

Treasurer report – 

MAYORAL REPORT – Deepest condolences to the Bradley PD for the tragic loss of an officer, and continued prayers for the injured officer. Thank you to Chief Brucato for assisting Bradley during this time. 

Alderman Salomone made motion to adjourn. Alderman Strunk seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddelston, Clark, Starkey and Strunk voting yes. 

Meeting adjourned at 7:50 PM
