City of Watseka City Council met May 24.

The City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor John Allhands at 7:00pm. Present were Aldermen Marcier, Cahoe, Garfield, Barragree, Miller & Alderwoman Musk. Absent were Alderman Rushbrook and Alderwoman Ulfers.
Motion was made by Garfield, seconded by Marcier to Approve the City Council Regular Meeting Minutes of April 26, 2022. Motion passed 6-0.

A Motion was made by Garfield, seconded by Musk to enter the Public Hearing Motion passed 6-0. City Attorney Cainkar read the info and stated this was published in the Times-Republic on May 12, 2022 there were no questions from the council or the public.
A Motion was made by Barragree, seconded by Garfield to close the Public Hearing. Motion passed 6-0. A Motion was made by Garfield, seconded by Mush to accept Ordinance #2648. Motion passed 6-0. Standing Committee Reports
• Finance, Legal and Audit
A Motion was made by Garfield, seconded by Miller to pay claims in the amount $303,075.09. Motion passed 6-0.
A Motion was made by Garfield, seconded by Musk to Accept and Place on file the April Treasurer Report. Motion passed 6-0.
A Motion was made by Cahoe, seconded by Musk Transfer $7981.75 from pooled cash account local gas tax 6-10-1005 street and alleys. Motion passed 6-0.
A Motion was made by Garfield, seconded by Marcier IPC bid for $30,300 to resurface the alley between S 4th & S 5th St. pay for out of Capital Equipment line item. Motion passed 6-0.

Police Pension Discussion-Some discussion was had, an Ordinance needs to be created City Attorney Cainkar will work on this and the Mayor is going to ask Bernardi to re-run the numbers again.
Library Board Wayne Lehmann retiring & Appoint Alex Knapp to Library term expires 7/2023. A Motion was made by Garfield, seconded by Miller. Motion passed 6-0.
Committee Chairs- Mayor Allhands read the committee chairs to the council. A Motion was made by Garfield, seconded by Musk Code-Co-Chairs Don Miller & Monna Ulfers, Public Works Co-Chairs Dennis Cahoe, Benny Marcier & Jenny Musk, Water & waste water- Co-Chairs Dennis Cahoe & Mark Garfield, Finance Co-Chairs Brandon Barragree & John Allhands, Purchasing Chair Co-Chair John Allhands & Brandon Barragree, Public Safety Police Co-Chairs John Allhands & Monna Ulfers, Public Safety-Fire Co-Chairs John Allhands & Dennis Cahoe.
Liquor, Personnel, and Purchasing Committees to be determined. Mayor Allhands suggested a new committee possibly City Buildings and Grounds.
Solar Panel Placement for City Buildings-This will be on the next Public Works committee meeting agenda for further discussion.
Keith from Robinson Engineering reported no update on the sidewalks yet, he meet with IPC today he needs to get his notes together. They have not received the permit from IDOT yet and on the water nothing from the State of Illinois yet. Keith is going to get Mayor Allhands the information from Peerless.
