Kankakee County Community Services Committee met Sept. 20.

The meeting of the Kankakee County Community Services Committee was called to order by Committee Chairman, Mrs. Webber at 9:00am. The following members were present:

Mrs. Webber, Ms. Parker, Mr. Snipes, Mr. Carrico, Ms. Hudson, Mr. Kenneth Smith, , Ms. Bryan, Mr. Kerkstra, Mr. Ekhoff, Mr. Alexander-Hildebrand and Mr. Wheeler

Members Absent – Ms. Peters, Mrs. Polk, Mr. Tholen, Mr. Rayman and Mr. Sirois 

Quorum – Present 

Department Heads Present – Theresa Goudie, Erich Blair, Dan Hendrickson, Kari Laird, Anita Speckman and Lori Gadbois

Media Present – None

Minutes of the Last Meeting 

The minutes of August 16, 2022 were submitted to the committee.

Ms. Hudson made a motion to approve, and Mr. Hildebrand seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote. 

County Clerk 

Monthly Report 

Mr. Hendrickson reviewed the report. There were no questions from the committee. Ms. Parker made a motion to approve, and Mr. Ekhoff seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote. 

Mr. Hendrickson updated the committee on voting dates, mail-in voting and how to be an election judge.

Discussions were held regarding the cost of mail in voting.

Discussions were held regarding a referendum on the ballot. Mr. Hendrickson stated that sample ballots are available on kankakeevotes.com

Assessor 

Monthly Report 

Mr. Blair reviewed the report with the committee.

Mr. Smith made a motion to approve, and Mr. Carrico seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote. 

Mr. Blair stated that the deadline to appeal is October 11.

Recorder 

Monthly Report 

Ms. Gadbois reviewed the report with the committee.

Mr. Kerkstra made a motion to approve, and Mr. Snipes seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote. 

Ms. Gadbois updated the committee on the progress of the books for her office.

Animal Control  

Monthly Report 

Ms. Laird, Animal Control Director, reviewed the monthly report with the committee, highlighting areas of the report. Discussions were held.

Ms. Hudson made a motion to approve, and Mr. Hildebrand seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote. 

Monthly Statistical Data 

Ms. Laird, Animal Control Director, reviewed the monthly statistical data with the committee. Discussions were held.

Animal Welfare Advisory Committee 

Monthly Update 

Ms. Parker provided a brief update to the committee.

Adjournment 

Mr. Hildebrand made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:57 a.m. Ms. Parker seconded the motion. Motion carried by a voice vote.
