Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by the Committee Chairman, Mr. Hess at 7:30 a.m.
Public Comment
None
Approval of Minutes: August 10, 2022
Mr. Smith made a motion to approve and Mr. Kerkstra seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.
Judicial – Chief Judge Thomas Cunnington
Judge Cunnington was present and updated the committee on the Basement renovation project, Court management system and the Safe-T Act.
Discussions were held.
Circuit Clerk’s Office - Sandi Cianci
• Monthly Report
Ms. Cianci provided the committee with reports, there were no questions or comments.
Ms. Peters made a motion to approve the report, and Mr. Ekhoff seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.
State’s Attorney’s Office – Jim Rowe
John Coghlan was present to review the report.
• Grand Jury Report
• Grand Jury Statistics Report
Mr. Ekhoff made a motion to combine and approve the reports and Mr. Carrico seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.
• States Attorney Community Foundation
Mr. Rowe spoke about the foundation that is eligible for grant programming and funding. Discussions were held.
• Presentation Regarding the Safe-T Act
Mr. Rowe presented to the committee a review of the Safe-T act and the impacts that it will have to the community. Discussions were held.
Public Defender’s Office – Ed Pentuic
• Monthly Report
Mr. Pentuic reviewed the report with the committee.
Mr. Long made a motion to approve, and Mr. Kerkstra seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.
Discussions were held regarding the Safe-T act.
Probation – Tom Latham
• Monthly Report
Mr. Peters made a motion to approve, and Mr. Swanson seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.
• Pretrial Services Update
Mr. Latham provided an update to the committee regarding the state taking over the pretrial services. Discussions were held.
Sheriff/EMA Department – Mike Downey
Sheriff Downey was present to review the reports with the committee.
• Monthly Report
Mr. Long made a motion to approve, and Ms. Parker seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote
Sheriff Downey commented on the Safe-T Act and advised the committee he would bring a presentation next month. Discussions were held.
• Animal Control Update
Sheriff updated the committee on Animal Control.
Coroner’s Office – Eric Cavender
• Monthly Reports
• Monthly Receipts of Money
Mr. Cavender was present and reviewed the reports with the committee.
Mr. Kerkstra made a motion to combine and approve, and Ms. Peters seconded it. Motion carried with a voice vote.
