Kankakee Times

There were 29 offenders living in Kankakee County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Kankakee Times.

The data shows 25 men and four women were released in Kankakee County. The median age of the parolees was 39. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2020, and the oldest was a 57-year-old man sentenced for a crime against a person in 2021.

The offender incarcerated the longest was John Mays. He was convicted of a property crime in 2012 when he was 18 years old. He is now 29.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
