Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met March 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

6:30PM Meeting called to Order / Pledge

Roll Call was taken, all present except Mr. Morgan

*Motion to approve minutes from previous 2/21/23 meeting, with correction to Fest Fund amount 

    Motion: Danahey       2nd: Coats     Motion Carried 4-0-1      Bruni abstaining

Public Comments: Pres. Hawkins expressed condolences to family of Officer Agee on the recent passing of his wife, and to the family of Becky Contreras on her passing.

   The recently formed local FFA Chapter to be active in the next School year in the Grant Park Schools, spoke of their plans for the students, and is planning a “Cash Bash” June 10th, and asked for consideration on the rent for the Community Center. Pres. Hawkins waived the fee.

   Jane Johnson asked concerning a legal book sent to the lawyers for review and was told they were instructed not to review it. Pres Hawkins stated that was not the case and will call them. She also explained the Boards view concerning the Pepin property, that the Board does not want to get involved in this, legally or financially, as it is private property, and wishes to put the issue to rest. Pres Hawkins did offer to have a meeting with the lawyer, and Jane Johnson to have a discussion.

*Motion to approve Bills for Payment: <3/03/23 General Fund $8,245.48, Fest Fund $761.48, Sewer Sale Fund $43,147.00 Payroll <2/18/23 $20,238.78

Departmental Reports:

Clerk Dillman: stated the e-mail from K3 Clerks office, concerning the Economic Interest renewal should have been received by all members.

Engineer Piggush report: documents for constructing Multi Use Path along Rt. 1-17 to Casey’s was received and should be moving forward this spring/summer.

   This was reported by Pres. Hawkins, construction this Spring/Summer

  Streets & Alleys, Coats: Complaints received by St. Peters concerning the alley usage. Pres Hawkins will arrange a meeting with them to discuss. Main Break in Lake Metonga Trail repaired, cold patching being done, estimate received of $1,600 for East Curtis alley repair.

  Finance, Morgan: Absent, no report

  Community Outreach, Wiedl: Reported a profit of $6,367.34 for the Cabin Fever Reliever, Easter hunt, and activities 4/02/23 1-4PM, Spring Cleaning 5/06/23 9-?  Next Fest Meeting 3/13/23 @5:00PM

  Ordinance & Insurance, Raloff: Asking for funds to design and print Business Licenses

*Motion to fund Business License certificates not to exceed $500

    Motion: Raloff     2nd: Danahey        Motion Carried 4-1-0      Wiedl voting no

*Motion to approve Resolution R-3-23-1 a final plat of subdivision for Yellowhead subdivision

    Motion: Raloff       2nd: Danahey      Motion Carried 5-0-0

*Motion to waive first reading Ordinance O-3-23-1 rezoning pin #01-04-20-305-020 from R1 to I2

    Motion: Danahey      2nd: Bruni     Motion Carried 5-0-0

*Motion to adopt Ordinance O-3-23-1 rezoning pin #01-04-20-305-020 from R1 to I2

    Motion: Raloff      2nd: Bruni       Motion Carried 5-0-0

Mr. Raloff gave a report that a ruling has been given on the Meadow Street fence issue; repairs were given 90 days to be completed. Also handed out a couple of pages of potential changes with the Ordinances concerning fences to be considered. Next Ordinance meeting 3/13/23 @6:30PM

   Law Enforcement, Danahey: no report

   Chief Frey: hosting Rapid Response Training at GPHS 3/24/23.

Pres Hawkins: Reminded Board Members to not “reply all” with e-mails, the Zoning Board has been filled, and is moving forward, delayed Village Christmas Party, is being delayed further, no date set. KANKAKEE County Fair will be August 2-6, we will again give $50 donation. An updated Nicor map has been received, and a Com-Ed scholarship form received for area students to apply for.

President Hawkins scheduled meeting of the whole at 5:30 March 20 to have attorney and Ms. Johnson available to conclude Pepin property questions.  

President explained; a building permit and inspections only cover the structural integrity of the project.  Code enforcement verify the project followed the Village code of ordinances.

No Executive session held.
