Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met June 5.

Roll Call was taken, all members present
*Motion to approve previous 5/15/23 meeting minutes
Motion: Danahey 2nd: Morgan Motion Carried 5-0-1 Bruni abstaining
Public Comments:
Mary Ekhoff spoke asking support on the proposed train for Hilgert Park
Adam Mulder spoke, asking for a copy of his 2008 pre-annexation agreement
JD Dykema, representing the Methodist Church, asked if the Church could reline the tennis/basketball court, to make it a pickle ball court….permission granted
*Motion to approve Bills for Payment: <6/01/23 General Fund $18,053.45, M.F.T. $590.52, Sewer Fund $1,953.86 Payroll <5/27/23 $19,193.92
Departmental Reports:
Clerk Dillman: no report
Ordinance & Insurance, Wiedl: no report
Streets & Alleys, Danahey: Attended a meeting with Hazard Mitigation, preparing to get an estimate for tar & chipping 9000N Rd. , asked if the Village has received a check from Jane Johnson for lawyer fees, (Answer, no)asked id Dan Chapel billing has been resolved.(answered, balance not paid)
Finance, Morgan: Need to have the Appropriations Ordinance by 7/19/23, wage increases tabled
Community Outreach, Detloff: Car Wash raised $600, asked if we are joining the Economic Enterprise Zone, (answered Pres Hawkins has a meeting next week). Detloff asked to be reassigned to a different Committee, Pres. Hawkins stated committees are assigned for the year.
Building & Grounds, Bruni: need someone for a Community Center cleaning Job. Need a load of sand for the Parks, discussion held again concerning the proposed train for Hilgert Park. Ms. Danahey had contacted the Village Insurance carrier, and the railroad concerning the park. She stated they had safety concerns, and requests a “fence that can’t be climbed” (this was not defined) for the appx 50’ area not fenced currently from the tracks. The Rail Road does have grants available for the fencing, but not until November

Motion: Bruni 2nd: Morgan Motion Carried 4-3-0 Danahey, Detloff, and Wiedl voting no, Hawkins, yes
Law Enforcement, Whorrall: Sgt. Castello graduated from N.W University Police School, Rail Road crossings to be repaired 6/26/23. A report of May’s police calls was read
Pres Hawkins: reported Jim Rowe donated $5000 for the new police car for the needed accessories, Read a thank you letter sent for police assist with the GP Ambulance, stated Officer Roger Novak Ill. C.O.P.S. training

7:56 PM Returned to Open Session, no action taken
Mr. Detloff stated he does not have any food vendors that will attend the fest, therefore he will condense the fest to one day or just cancel the event. Will hold a meeting, and a line item for next meeting
