A press conference held by the Illinois Freedom Caucus was attended by an estimated 400 people last night, October 2, 2023, and a large group of them also attended the Manteno Village Board meeting to provide public comments.
Topic of the press conference and public comment during village board meeting was in opposition of the $2 billion Gotion EV battery plant announced by Governor Pritzker several days ago. This company is set to receive more than $8 billion in federal and state economic incentives.
Prior to public comment, the Manteno Mayor read a village press release concerning what he described as facts related to the decision on the Gotion battery plant.
