Kankakee School District 111 Board of Education met Sept. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular Board of Education meeting of Kankakee School District No. 111, Kankakee County, Illinois, was held at 7:03 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose room at Avis Huff 369 N. Fifth Ave Kankakee, IL 60901.

ROLL CALL

A quorum was declared present.

Closed Session

Public Hearing

The public hearing was tabled until the September 25, 2023, board meeting.

A motion was made by Gathing, seconded by Johnston, to table the Public Hearing until the September 25, 2023, Board Meeting. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES- Archie, Berrones, Gathing, Johnston, Verrett, Williams, and Bohlen. NAYS-none. Motion carried.

➢ Ms. Fountain discussed the new partnership with Grand Canyon University. Ms. Fountain also introduced Marcello Robinson, Assistant Principal at Kennedy, and Mr. Draper introduced Ms. Colemanl.

Principal’s Report

Mrs. Starkey and Mrs. Morgan-Harris gave a brief presentation. They discussed a field trip to feed the starving children, changing the narrative for Independence Academy students, and thanked and presented gifts to the retirees.

A motion was made by Gathing and seconded by Johnston to approve the above-listed consent agenda items as presented. ROLL CALL VOTE- AYES: Berrones, Gathing, Johnston, Verrett, Williams, Archie and Bohlen. Nays: None. Motion carried.

Action Item

1. Approval of FY 2023-2024 Budget.

A motion was made by Gathing, seconded by Johnston, to table the FY 2023-2024 Budget as presented. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES- Gathing, Johnston, Verrett, Williams, Archie, Berrones and Bohlen. NAYS- none. Motion carried.

2. Consideration and action on a resolution supplementing the Bond Fund Investment Agreement by and between the District and Zions Bancorporation, National Association, Chicago, Illinois, as Deposit Agent, dated as of July 25, 2016, and related to the Taxable General Obligation Limited Tax School Bonds, Series 2016B (Qualified School Construction Bonds) of the District, authorizing the District to periodically provide letters of instruction to the Deposit Agent, and authorizing the retention of a municipal advisor to provide computations and advice concerning the investment of funds under the Agreement

3. 5. Approval of Board Member Roles & Responsibilities with Head Start.

A motion was made by Johnston, seconded by Gathing, to approve the Board Member Roles & Responsibilities with Head Start. as presented. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES-Williams, Archie, Berrones, Gathing, Johnston, Verrett and Bohlen. NAYS none. Motion carried.

6. Approval of Contract with Johnson Training LLC & Kankakee High School for the 2023-2024 School Year.

A motion was made by Gathing, seconded by Williams, to approve the Contract with Johnson Training LLC & Kankakee High School for the 2023-2024 School Year as presented. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES- Archie, Berrones, Gathing, Johnston, Verrett, Williams, and Bohlen. NAYS- none. Motion carried.
