Kankakee County taxpayers paid the 28th largest sum in sales taxes in April, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Kankakee County residents paid $594,730 in sales taxes during April.

Kankakee County ranked 32nd in the Prairie State the month before, with $447,377 spent in sales taxes.

The Countywide Sales Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Kankakee County residents in April.

Illinois is currently the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes are 39.83% higher than the national average.
