Colton Ekhoff, the present Kankakee County Board Member for District 2 and candidate for County Auditor, has expressed his enthusiasm about being on the ballot and his readiness to serve the community. In the upcoming March 19 primary, Ekhoff will compete against incumbent Auditor Jacob M. "Jake" Lee.

“I am so excited to be on the ballot and to have the opportunity to work for you!” Ekhoff said on Facebook. “Not only will I show up to work, but I will restore accountability, integrity, and transparency to the Auditor’s Office.”

Providing additional insights into his background, Ekhoff revealed that he was born and raised in Kankakee County. He also mentioned that he is a partner in a second-generation family business. As a member of the Kankakee County Board since 2018, Ekhoff has been an active contributor to local governance. His involvement extends to various organizations such as Zion Lutheran Church, One Hundred Club of Kankakee County, City of Momence Planning Commission, Kankakee County Regional Planning Commission and the National Rifle Association.

Ekhoff's District 2 covers all of the City of Momence except for the west side of Elm up to Junior High. It also includes Sumner Township from 11000 East to 5000 East, spanning from County Line Road to 6000 North. Beyond serving District 2, Ekhoff also holds the position of County Finance Committee Chairman as stated in his fact sheet.

Recently marking one year since launching his campaign against incumbent Auditor Jacob Lee for non-attendance at Finance Committee meetings as reported by Kankakee Times; Ekhoff is preparing for a heated primary election on March 19 where he will face off against Lee. Adopting "Action not absence" as his campaign slogan, Ekhoff is emphasizing the need for accountability and proactive engagement in the role, citing a lack of these qualities in the current administration.
