Westmont Village Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Sept. 28.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order: This special meeting was called to order by Chairperson Stella Qualiza at 8:00 A.M. Roll Call-

2. Roll Call: Chairperson Qualizza- Present, Secretary Mulhearn- Present,

Commissioner Baldwin- was not present at roll call but participated starting at 8:30 a.m. prior to the interview of the first candidate of the day. A quorum was present.

3. Public Forum: None- no members of the public were present

4. Ongoing Business: The following candidates were present and interviewed for the position of Probationary Patrol Officer. They completed a writing exercise just prior to the interview in the Chief's Conference room and then participated in an oral interview with the Commission in the training center on the second floor. After each interview a conference of the commissioners occurred with a vote taken on whether each candidate should proceed onto the next phase of the process which was a polygraph test by Conrad Polygraph. If the candidate did not meet the standards set by the commission, they would be notified at a later date of their status by letter from the commission.

Candidate # 28 Chair Qualizza made a motion that Candidate 28 be passed onto the next phase, the polygraph phase of the testing process. Seconded by Commission Baldwin

VOTE: All In favor= 0 Opposed= 3 Motion Failed

Candidate # 22 Chair Qualizza made a motion that Candidate 22 be passed onto the next phase, the polygraph phase of the testing process. Seconded by Commissioner/Secretary Mulhearn

All in Favor-0

Opposed= 3 Motion Failed

Candidate #24 Chair Qualizza made a motion that Candidate 24 be passed onto the next phase, the polygraph phase of the testing process. Seconded by

Commissioner Baldwin:

VOTE All in Favor= 3 Opposed =0 Motion Carried

It should be noted that Candidate #24 notified the Commission that he is leaving for Europe this week and will not return until December 2024. He asked if he could remain on the eligibility list and then continue testing when he returns if he passed this portion of the testing process. He was advised that the Commission will seek legal counsel on his request and the Chair will notify him of our response via email

Candidate # 27 Chair Qualizza made a motion that Candidate 27 be passed onto the next phase, the polygraph phase of the testing process. Seconded by Commissioner Mulhearn

VOTE: All in Favor= 3 Opposed=0 Motion Carried

Candidate # 25 Chair Qualizza made a motion that Candidate 25 be passed onto the next phase, the polygraph phase of the testing process. Seconded by Commissioner Baldwin

VOTE: All in Favor = 3 Opposed= 0 Motion Carried

5. New Business: None

6. Invoices: None

7. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
