City of Watseka City Council met Oct. 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allhands present were Alderman Anderson, Muench, Cahoe, Marcier, Miller, Barragree and Alderwomen DeLahr. Absent Alderwoman Rohlfs.

Public Comment-None

Some discussion was Keith from Robinson shared this is for the OSLAD application, for the outdoor fitness center, $50,000 grants towards this project if the city doesn’t get the grant, they do not have to get the equipment. Alderman Marcier asked how much the city is going to have to pay. Keith shared that Public Works could do some of the work this helps offset the cost. Public Works Director Loren shared that the city is not committing to anything today. Keith shared that there is a company highly recommended to install the equipment, this is good for 2 years and can be done in phases. A Motion was made by Miller, seconded by Muench. Motion passed 7-0 Resolution: 2024- 2 Resolution to Adopt and Allocate Funds for an Outdoor Fitness Court as Part of the 2025 Nation Fitness Campaign.

Keith from Robinson shared the bid opening was today IPC was the only bidder, lots of discussion was had on other projects. Alderman Marcier asked how much the MFT funds pay, Keith from Robinson shared that $72,000 needs to be used by next June. The council needs to look at other projects that can be done with MFT funds. Loren Public Works Director shared that are awaiting Rail Pros, that they are working off their schedule, if they can get out sooner for 5thh St is a flip flop ok, everyone was ok with this, this project should be completed by November 27th. A Motion was made by Cahoe, seconded by Marcier for $485,870.72 Motion passed 7-0. North Street, Kay Street and 5th St MFT Section 24-00069-00-RS Project, discussion and action.

Loren Public Works Director shared The Martin Ave project all the signatures are ready, and the family has approved, we are waiting on IPC, and this will be ready to stake. Locust Storm Sewer should take off by the end of October and the test well will be staked this Thursday. Alderman Cahoe asked about the 5th street mill depth. Keith from Robinson believes the depth is 3 ½. Alderman Cahoe asked about 2 sink holes, Loren Public Works Director shared once they mill that area we will know more. Mayor Allhands mentioned TIF 3 funds and looking at other projects that need done, Loren and Keith will work on proposals for engineering so money can be earmarked by the end of the year. Alderman Anderson asked about the meeting that was before the meeting last month are there minutes, Mayor shared yes there are minutes he needs to get them done. Alderman Anderson also asked about the contract bid for the $22,000 from the Carlile group was that from April 1, of 2023, there was a 90 day window since this bid is from last year, regarding the email that Carlile sent out retracted that and said they did not want to work with us. Mayor shared

that 2 Alderman meet with that group and they changed their minds. Alderman Cahoe asked if two other streets can be looked at curb on W. Mulberry and the section of Oak St. 6th-7th-8th St.

A motion to adjourn was made by Marcier, seconded by Cahoe at 6:55p. Motion passed 7-0.
