A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Momence City Council in Illinois on October 15, 2024. The request was made by us at Kankakee Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In the request, we asked for a list of all council members along with specific details about each member. The requested information includes each member's name, title, year of appointment, term length (either two or four years), and the date their term expires.
The purpose of this request is to gather information that is crucial for our news reporting. As a media organization, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to such records enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively.
We also stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in disseminating information to the public.
