Kankakee County Buildings & Grounds Committee met Oct. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The meeting of the Kankakee County Buildings and Grounds Committee was held on October 10, 2024 and was called to order by Committee Chairperson, Ms. Parker at 9:00am. The  following members were present: 

Ms. Parker, Mr. Hess, Mr. Hunter, Mr. Dunnill, Mr. Ekhoff, Ms. Armer-Irps, Mr. Kerkstra, Ms.  Munday, Mr. Smith, Mr. Wheeler, Mr. Alexander-Hildebrand 

Members Absent –Mr. Ashcraft and Mr. Marion 

Quorum – Present 

Department Heads Present –Anita Speckman and Wes Andrews 

Media Present – None 

Public Commentary – None 

Minutes of the Last Meeting 

September 12, 2024 

Mr. SMith made a motion to approve, and Mr. Ekhoff seconded it. Motion carried with a  voice vote. 

Mr. Ekhoff made a motion to allow Mr. Hunter to attend via zoom, Mr. Smith seconded it.  Motion carried with a voice vote. 

Presentation 

None 

Buildings 

Facility Dude Report 

There were no discussions. There were 131 work orders last month. 

Financial Report 

Mr. Andrews, Maintenance Director, reviewed the report with the committee and highlighted  areas of the report. 

There were no questions from the committee. 

Building Report 

Mr. Andrews, Maintenance Director, reviewed and discussed the Building Report with the  committee, highlighting main areas. 

They are getting together a plan for the tuckpointing project 

Getting ready for winter and plowing

Fire inspection has been completed 

Discussions were had regarding window and toilet repairs at JCDC 

Stainless steel showers for the jail are $17k per shower, looking for other solutions IKAN roof project will begin shortly. 

ELARA Engineering HVAC Study 

A report was given for the committee to review. Discussions were had. 

Mr. Alexander-Hildebrand stated that we should look into ARPA funding remaining and see how  far that will take us using the priority sheet recommended from the engineers. Mr. Alexander-Hildebrand made a motion to move this to finance, and Ms. Irps seconded  it. Motion carried with a voice vote. 

New/Old/Other Business 

Mr. Hunter stated that he has spoke with the City of Kankakee and they would be interested in  partnering with us for the Courthouse Lighting Project. 

The committee agreed to review it in the future at some point. No action was taken. 

Adjournment 

Mr. Hess made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:35 a.m. Mr. Kerkstra seconded the  motion. Motion carried by a voice vote.
