City of Momence City Council met Jan. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Fordahl, Temple and Lesyna present. Aldermen Clark and Cook were absent.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Lesyna made motion to approve the minutes of January 6, 2025. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Temple and Lesyna voting yes. Alderman Fordahl passed.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

Alderman Doody made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Lesyna seconded the motion with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Fordahl, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

CITIZENS FOROM –

Old Business –

Aldermanic – Alderman Temple requested executive session, not to come out to do business.

Alderman Doody – BF meeting, February 3 at 7:15 PM

Department Heads – Chief Siemson – working on 327 Market Street issues

115 Locust Street is now owned by the city

the dry cleaner building will be signed over to the city

Lauri is doing well at the academy

Raul did a great job at 327 Market Street with 3 drug arrests and aided in the placement of the children City did well with snow removal

Task force utilized – appears to be insurance fraud

Treasurer report –

MAYORAL REPORT – Fox 32 interview with the river freezing, stated the town looks great. The ordinance officer doing a great job.

Alderman Lesyna made motion to move into executive session. Alderman Temple seconded the motion along with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Fordahl, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Adjourned to executive session 7:39 PM

Returned to open session 8:40 PM

Mayor Steele – gas station on the north end of town has been damaged for 6 months. The owner states insurance is the issue. Mayor sent him an email that he will be fined, due to the length of time with no repairs. Chief will issue citations; this is a huge eye sore for 6 months. Legal action is an option.

Alderman Doody made motion to adjourn. Alderman Fordahl seconded the motion along with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Fordahl, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM
