City of Momence City Council met Feb. 3.

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna present.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Anderson made motion to approve the minutes of January 20, 2025. Alderman Vela seconded the motion with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Fordahl, Temple and Lesyna voting yes. Aldermen Clark and Cook passed.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

Alderman Doody made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Old Business –

Aldermanic – Alderman Doody – BF meeting February 17, 7:15 PM

Alderman Lesyna – Ordinance 891 Tax Abatement – there were two errors, per the county. The taxing year and the bond series were incorrect. County recommended to make the adjustments to the ordinance. Alderman Leyna made a motion to approve with the corrections to the taxing year and the bond series. Alderman Temple seconded the motion along with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook and Temple. Alderman Lesyna voting no.

Alderman Vela – thank you for all of the condolences sent with the passing of his father.

Department Heads – Chief Siemson – Nanci is doing well at the PD. Lauri is doing well at the academy. There are many problems with the Mediacom internet.

Scott – working on getting price for furnace at the historic house, insurance check has been received. Tina – auditors are working

Treasurer report – Lisa is balanced through December. She will be back soon to be current.

MAYORAL REPORT – Public hearing February 6, 1 PM with Baxter Woodman

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn. Alderman Doody seconded the motion along with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.
