City of Momence City Council met May 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Deputy Clerk with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna present.

Recognize the County Clerks Canvass of the April 1, 2025 Election

SWEARING IN OF NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS, BY DAN HENDRICKSON, Mayor Chuck Steele, Ald. Josh Anderson, Ald. Tanya Fordahl, Ald. Mark Lesyna

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by deputy clerk, with Aldermen Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna present.

Mayor then requested a discuss and vote on appointments of Melissa Doody, Ward 1 Ald, and Avelino Vela as Ward 1 Ald., and Marcia Wyatt as City Clerk. Motion made by Ald Fordhal, and 2nd by Ald. Clark, all Ald., voted yes. Dan Henrickson swore in the new appointments

Roll call was called, Ald. Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna were present.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Cook made motion to approve the minutes of April 21st. Alderman Clark seconded the motion with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

Alderman Doody made motion to approve the bills for payment. Ald. Cook, seconded the motion with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

CITIZENS FORUM-

Surf Net Update, Jeff Natalia, and Audrey Miller, May 31st target date to go live. Residents will have a few options as to plans available. All underground following easements. Businesses, they are hoping to have enough owners interested in getting the service. Several plans also available.

Chris Kalmese Next community fun day is June 28th on the Island Park. Last event, Momence Mile, had 62 participants. Looking to do more in the community

Old Business -

Aldermanic - Alderman Doody - Budget and Finance meeting May 19th at 7:15pm

- Mark Leysna, Ord #893 creating two new Committees, 1st one Public Relations, 2nd, Economic Development, Ald. Lesyna made the motion to approve, 2nd my Tom Temple. All Aldermen voted yes.

Department Heads- Patrick Siemsen Lauri Rodriguez graduated Academy at the top of her class as well as receiving an award. Her training is going well. Nanci Ramirez also doing well with training, almost complete. Liz Mora, CSO, doing well with distressed properties and compliance. Demo on S. Walnut property complete. Started a Momence Police Department Facebook page, Golf Cart Registration can register at any time, but Sat. May 10th, 10 til 2pm is the big day. Dispelled the rumor on the Burger King murders, there is still and ongoing investigation.

Tina Demack - emailed all Aldermen Fiscal Year End RevExp Report.

Treasurer report -

MAYORAL REPORT - Discuss and Vote on Liquor License for the new Gas Depot, he needs to purchase product, will be a Class B&C. Ald. Lesyna made motion to approve 2nd by Ald. Fordahl. Voting yes, Ald Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordhal, Temple, Lesyna. Ald. Cook abstained.

Fordahi

The same peddlers from last yr for the Ice Cream truck, would like to sell again in the city limits. Also requested to waive background check. Asked for motion to approve, 2nd by Ald. Cook. All aldermen voted yes.

Annual appointments were discussed, see attached list, Ald. Doody made the motion to approve and 2nd Ald. Vela. All Aldermen voted yes.

Request for Executive Session to possibly come out and do business. Ald. Doody made motion to enter into Executive Session. Ald. Cook seconded the motion along with Aldermen Doody, Vela, Anderson, Clark, Fordahl, Cook, Temple and Lesyna voting yes.

Entered into Executive Session at 8:37pm

Entered back into regular session at 8:53 and motion to raises as presented for Tina, Scott Starky and Chief. All raises to be given annually every year going forward to coincide with the city's fiscal year for budget reasons. The raises given was Tina3 1⁄2 percent. Scott Starky was at 2 percent and Chief was 5000.00. Motion to approve the raises was by Davide Cook 2nd by Josh Anderson. All alderman voted yes to approve.

Motion to adjourn was presented by David cook 2nd Tonya, Fordahl all alderman voted to adjourn
