Jerome F. Van Voorhis | Clancy Gernon Funeral Homes - Bourbonnais

Jerome F. Van Voorhis, 86, died Sunday evening, August 17, 2025, at his residence in Saint Anne, Illinois. Born on October 22, 1938, in Hindsboro, Illinois, to Dean F. Van Voorhis and Kathryn D. (Honn) Van Voorhis. Jerry married Catherine (Kay) T. Flori on January 19, 1963, at Saint Mary’s church in Alton, Illinois. He served in the navy for four years, where he received electronics education and later worked as operations manager for AT&T for 35 years until his retirement in 1996.

Jerry enjoyed golfing, playing cards, spending time with family, and tending to his lawn. A member of the Kankakee Elks Country Club, he found joy in maintaining his beautiful lawn.

Survived by his wife of 62 years, Kay Van Voorhis; sons Michael (Sandra) Van Voorhis of Faith, North Carolina, Paul (Heather) Van Voorhis of McKinney, Texas; daughters Laura (Ed) Lambert of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Sara (Mike) Poe of Springhill, Tennessee; grandchildren Andrea (Andrew) Moffet, Jordan Van Voorhis, Cole and Rees Van Voorhis, Taylor (Maggie Moffat) DeVos, Hannah Lambert, Ryan, Zachary, and Aaron Poe; great-grandchildren Oliver Moffet and Emersyn Lambert; brother George (Mary) Van Voorhis; sisters Deana Kay Wolff, Becky (Bill) Heiens, Lynn (Jeff) Stinson, Nancy (Mark) Warner, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents Dean and Kathryn Van Voorhis and brother-in-law Ronald Wolff.

Visitation on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, Kankakee, IL. Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Saint John Paul II Catholic Church, Kankakee, IL, with burial at Van Voorhis cemetery in Hindsboro, Illinois following the service.

Memorials may be made to Uplifted Care of Bourbonnais or Saint John Paul II Catholic Church, Kankakee, IL.
