U.S. Representative Robin Kelly has issued a series of public statements on social media criticizing the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), as well as voicing concerns about federal social programs.
On October 14, 2025, Kelly posted, "I’m demanding accountability from ICE and DHS. ICE continues to terrorize immigrant communities, including in southeast Chicago today. ICE needs to answer for the violence it’s brought to our city."
The following day, on October 15, 2025, Kelly addressed recent statements from former President Donald Trump, writing, "Trump says he’s ending 'Democrat programs,' but he’s really targeting the lifelines millions rely on. Programs like Social Security, education for children with disabilities, and Medicaid are life-saving programs for all Americans."
Later that same day, Kelly called for the resignation of South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, stating, "Kristi Noem’s reckless leadership and cruel ICE raids are dangerous. Families are terrified to go to school or work because of ICE’s reckless actions. This isn’t leadership—it’s abuse of power. Kristi Noem must resign."
Robin Kelly has represented Illinois in Congress since 2013 and has consistently secured re-election by wide margins. In 2022, she defeated Thomas Lynch with 67.1% of the vote. Previous elections in 2020, 2018, 2016, and 2014 also saw Kelly win by substantial margins over her opponents.
