U.S. Representative Robin Kelly posted a series of tweets between October 20 and 21, 2025, addressing the ongoing government shutdown, expressing support for the South Shore community following an ICE raid, and extending Diwali greetings.

On October 20, Kelly criticized House Republicans for their lack of response to the government shutdown, writing, "Week 4 of the Republican shutdown. Still no response from House Republicans." Later that day, she marked the Diwali holiday with a message to her constituents: "Wishing a happy Diwali to all who celebrate.

May this Festival of Lights bring peace, joy, and prosperity to your families, and remind us all of the power of light triumphing over darkness."

In a tweet posted on October 21, Kelly referenced a recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. She stated, "It’s been two weeks since a South Shore resident showed @repdeliaramirez, @RepChuyGarcia & @rep_jackson, and me the damage ICE left behind after their militarized raid. What I saw is unacceptable.

I haven’t stopped demanding accountability for these Gestapo-style tactics."

Robin Kelly has served as U.S. Representative since 2013 and has consistently won re-election by wide margins. In the 2022 general election, she defeated Thomas Lynch with 67.1% of the vote. In previous elections—2020, 2018, 2016, and 2014—she also secured significant victories over her opponents.
