U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who has consistently secured re-election victories in Illinois' Second Congressional District, addressed issues related to health insurance costs and agricultural trade policy in a series of posts on October 22, 2025.
In her first post, Kelly criticized House Republicans for their stance on the Affordable Care Act tax credits, stating on October 22, 2025: "Families can’t afford higher monthly health insurance bills because @HouseGOP refuses to do their job.
15,000 people in the Second District will pay more each month if Republicans let critical ACA tax credits expire.
It’s time to put people over politics."
Later the same day, Kelly commented on former President Donald Trump's trade policies and their impact on Illinois farmers. She wrote: "I won’t fall for Trump’s games.
He hurt Illinois soybean farmers when he started a shortsighted trade war with China. China normally buys a quarter of American soybeans, but refuses to buy any more due to Trump’s tariffs.
In a related post, she further criticized Trump's approach to crisis management and farm aid: "Trump’s playbook:
Start a crisis.
Blame someone else.
Announce a “fix.”
Repeat.
Now he’s releasing $3B in farm aid frozen during the Republican shutdown to help farmers struggling due to his trade wars. https://t.co/ySESzy5ilp"
Robin Kelly has represented Illinois' Second Congressional District since 2013 and has won multiple general elections by significant margins, including victories in 2022 against Thomas Lynch, in 2020 against Theresa Raborn, in 2018 against David Merkle, in 2016 against John Morrow, and in 2014 against Eric Wallace.
