U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, a Democratic congresswoman from Illinois, posted a series of tweets on October 21, 2025, criticizing former President Donald Trump and Republican congressional leadership. The tweets addressed issues ranging from White House activities to the treatment of fellow lawmakers.

In her first tweet at 15:35 UTC, Kelly wrote, "Trump is spending his time redecorating the White House to look like Mar-a-Lago instead of reopening the government or lowering your health care costs.

Never forget, he’ll always put himself first, not you."

Later that day at 16:30 UTC, she commented on legal actions against a colleague, stating, "The politically-motivated charges against @RepLaMonica should be dropped. She was simply doing her job and seeking answers for her constituents.

The Trump Administration is trying to bully her into submission, but we will never bend the knee."

In a subsequent tweet at 19:33 UTC, Kelly criticized Speaker Johnson for not swearing in a newly elected representative from Arizona: "The people of Southern Arizona voted for Rep-elect Adelita Grijalva 28 days ago, but Speaker Johnson refuses to swear her in. Now he’s blaming her for not doing her job.

Shame on you, Speaker Johnson. Swear in Rep-elect Grijalva right now."

Robin Kelly has been an incumbent in Congress since winning a special election in 2013. She has consistently secured re-election in her district with significant margins. In the 2022 general election, she defeated Thomas Lynch with 67.1% of the vote. In previous cycles, she also prevailed by wide margins over her opponents, including Theresa Raborn in 2020 and David Merkle in 2018.
