Robin Kelly, U.S. Representative for Illinois’s 2nd congressional district, addressed a range of policy issues in a series of posts on her official Twitter account from November 6 to November 7, 2025.
On November 6, Kelly commented on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), writing, "SNAP benefits are NOT a 'handout.' SNAP feeds 42 million Americans, including children, veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities. President Trump: Pay attention to 42 million Americans instead of political games."
Later that day, she criticized government officials over the treatment of detainees at an immigration facility. In her post dated November 7, she stated, "It shouldn’t take a federal judge to tell Sec. Noem and President Trump that people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. The judge called the Broadview ICE Facility a 'prison.' I am demanding answers—and for immediate change."
In another tweet posted early on November 7, Kelly discussed changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program: "The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program honors service over profit. It tells nurses, teachers, & first responders that their years of dedication matter. Trump’s decision to end this program isn’t about policy—it’s about punishing people who serve our communities over chasing"
Robin Kelly has maintained significant support in her district across multiple election cycles. In the most recent general election in 2022, she defeated Thomas Lynch with more than two-thirds of the vote. She also secured decisive victories in previous elections against Theresa Raborn in 2020, David Merkle in 2018, John Morrow in 2016, and Eric Wallace in 2014.
