Serve Illinois and Forefront will support nonprofits in Illinois with the #IGive campaign beginning Dec. 1.
#IGive is part of the nationwide #GivingTuesday campaign, where individuals are encouraged to donate to charitable organizations. The one-day goal for Dec. 1 is $6 million donated by Illinois residents to Illinois nonprofits. Forefront seeks to build on the success of the 2014 campaign and encourage individuals, nonprofits, elected officials and corporations to support the #IGive movement.
“The holiday season is a time of giving,” Executive Director of Serve Illinois Scott McFarland said. “By donating to Illinois nonprofits on #GivingTuesday, we are helping to support our communities throughout the coming year.”
The #IGive campaign is using social media to spread the movement throughout the state and make it an annual tradition synonymous with the holidays, much like Black Friday and Cyber Monday symbolize holiday shopping. The nonpartisan effort raised nearly $4 million last year to support Illinois nonprofits.
“It’s been a privilege to work with remarkable leaders all over the state and country building a movement around #ILGive,” Forefront President and CEO Eric Weinheimer said. “We are excited to help shine light on causes and organizations that really keep our communities healthy, safe, and stable.”
