Kankakee considers housing partnership with Renaissance Rock Island

Kankakeecitylogo

The Kankakee City Council was expected to consider an agreement with a local nonprofit housing group at its meeting Monday at City Council Chambers.

The services agreement would form a limited partnership between the city and Rock Island Economic Growth Corporation, one of three groups that make up Renaissance Rock Island. The group's current housing programs include closing cost assistance, foreclosure prevention, listing services and helping facilitate neighborhood housing developments.

The council was also scheduled to approve a new phone agreement with Call One as well as a lease with the People's Bank of Kankakee for the space that houses the system.

Cornerstone Services Inc. will also come before the council to present its petition to build and operate a community residence for families at 1401 Navajo Court.
