The Kankakee County Board clarified the boundaries and polling location for the new Pembroke voting precinct at its meeting Jan. 12.
The board originally passed a resolution approving the consolidation of Pembroke Precinct No. 1 and Pembroke Precinct No. 2 into a single precinct with a single polling place on June 9 of last year. According to county officials, the original resolution did not contain language adequately describing the new boundaries and polling place.
The amended resolution specifies the boundaries of the new precinct that begins at the intersection of 4000S Road and 11000E Road, traces a line north to the corner of Section 6 and Baseline Road, turns west and follows Baseline Road to its intersection with 1800E Road, then runs south to the intersection with 8000S Road and runs west along 8000S Road to the intersection of 11000E Road, before turning north to the beginning at 4000S Road.
All Pembroke Precinct No. 1 voters will vote at the Pembroke Public Library, beginning with the March 16 general primary elections.
The Pembroke Public Library is located at 13130 E. Central St. in Pembroke.
