The Kankakee Area YMCA will accept registration for its coed outdoor soccer league until July 22.
There are two leagues, Mighty Mites for ages 3 and 4, and then Youth Co-Ed leagues for ages 5 to 14.
The league is designed to teach individuals teamwork and sportsmanship as well as the four core values of the YMCA; caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. This seven-week league is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of soccer according to the appropriate age level.
For Mighty Mites, the first portion of the evening consists of practice, with a short game to follow. Games are played on Monday evenings. Shin guards are required and participant must bring their own.
For the youth co-ed league, players have one practice per week with their team. Games are played on Saturdays. Shin guards are also required. Youth co-ed practices begin the week of Aug. 3, and games begin the week of Aug. 10.
