The Bradley Public Library District Board of Trustees met Aug. 24 to renew current employee health insurance plan.

President Bayer called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public
Library District to order at 6:02 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016.
Present: Bayer, Grace, Benoit, Longtin, Rodgers, and Richardson

Director DePatis stated the following:
PrairieCat:
Director DePatis attended Delegates Assembly meeting on July 27th via the web.
Maintenance:
Carpet/tile cleaning will be done on August 26th evening thru August 28th by A Touch
Of Glass. Drassler room will be done the following week.
Fade to Black will seal and stripe the parking lot on the same weekend, weather permitting.
Personnel:
Hired 2 new pages, Colton Lucas and Rai Dominquez to replace pages leaving for college.
Both are BBCHS students and volunteered during the summer programs.
Chris Temple, a page and summer helper for 6 years, will be working as a part time circulation
clerk and doing a monthly boy’s book club while he finishes his teaching degree at a local
Junior High.
Continuing Ed:
Director DePatis attended 2 webinars on August 23rd
– Email Newsletters with Library Aware
and Beyond Orientation by the Management Association.
On August 5th, four staff attended a day long in-service training in Coal City on “3 Minutes To
Live” on active shooters and emergencies in the workplace/community.
Betty Chapman attended a NASCO workshop on August 5th on STEM in the classroom and
2 forthcoming book titles webinars and Art In Education webinar.
Miscellaneous:
Management Association membership renewed for fiscal year 2016-2017.
Director DePatis was appointed to another 3 year term on the Live & Learn Construction
Grant Review Committee - Reviewer for 2017 IEEE Stem grants.
No petitions were turned in for 2017-18 2% Building & Maintenance Ordinance.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
The Friends of the Library’s met on August 3, 2016 at 6:30PM. Summer reading raffles
brought in $199.00. Continuing with the Healthy Living series, the Friends of the Library
will be sponsoring 4 sessions of Gentle Yoga. Fall Book Sale is tentatively set for
October 27th thru October 29th. The Friends of the Library are once again sending unsold
books to Better World Books. The annual craft show will be held on November 12, 2016.
Their next meeting is on October 5th at 6:30PM.
Personnel Committee:
Director DePatis’ self-evaluation form was distributed to each trustee. Trustees were given
a director evaluation which is to be returned by September 7, 2016.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Bradley National Night Out was held on August 2, 2016. Trustees and Library employees
provided the community with information about the library’s programs etc. and enjoyed an
evening of fun with each other and members of their community.

Entered into a 5 year contract with Martin Whalen Office Solutions for a new copier with
a $1.00 buyout at the end of the contract period.
NEW BUSINESS
Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Rodgers to
adopt Ordinance 16-03 Budget and Appropriation Ordinance of the Bradley Public Library
for the 2017-2018 Fiscal Year

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Longtin to
accept the renewal of the current BC/BS health insurance policy from the Gwen Hopkins
Group with a 11.90% increase.

The treasurer’s bond has been renewed.
COMMUNICATIONS
A thank you letter was received from the County Clerk’s office, thanking the Bradley Public
Library for registering voters prior to Election Day.
