Honoring a pair of retiring Republican board members, the Kankakee County Board acknowledged the contributions of outgoing Chairman Mike Bossert and board member Stan James, thanking them for their service during its regular meeting this month.

The board’s GOP members also gathered recently to hold their caucus, nominating Andrew Wheeler for chairman and Steve Liehr for vice chairman, with 20 out of 22 GOP members present.

The Kankakee County Republicans congratulated the nominees, stating, “Good luck to Mr. Wheeler and Mr. Liehr as they pursue good things for our county.”

When the caucus reached an agreement to “keep their word and bring this slate to the Board,” 19 out of the 20 participating caucus members voted to do so.

The Kankakee County Republican Central Committee (KCRCC) invites the public to its monthly meetings, emphasizing the opportunity not only to stay apprised of the latest events and issues impacting the region, but also to participate in an interactive dialogue between constituents and their elected representatives.

“Please join us on the second Thursday of every month for our general meetings,” the committee said on its website. “These meetings give us the opportunity to discuss party business that affects the community.  It is also a chance to hear from local elected officials and ask questions regarding the happenings of local government.”
