Grant Park ranked 200th in state in lottery ticket sales for February 2016

The Village of Grant Park had the 200th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of February 2016 -- up 60 spots from its January ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Grant Park was $27.46 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Kankakee Times, Grant Park generated $35,390.50 in net sales from its two lottery retailers in February 2016, compared to $28,402.50 in February 2015.

The Village of Grant Park is in Kankakee County, and has a population of 1,289, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in February 2016 was $21,952.90.

Grant Park's top lottery retailer is Caseys Gen Store #2231 located at 12545 E State Route 1 17, Grant Park, IL 60940.

Caseys Gen Store #2231 generated 55 percent of Grant Park's February 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of Kankakee County's sales that month, which was $1,931,855.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Kankakee County in 2015 were Aroma Park, Saint Anne, Momence, Herscher and Grant Park.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
