Herscher ranked 243th in state in lottery ticket sales for March 2016

The Village of Herscher had the 243th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of March 2016 -- down 121 spots from its February ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Herscher was $27.01 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Kankakee Times, Herscher generated $41,968.50 in net sales from its four lottery retailers in March 2016, compared to $43,946 in March 2015.

The Village of Herscher is in Kankakee County, and has a population of 1,554, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in March 2016 was $22,439.87.

Herscher's top lottery retailer is Caseys Gen Store #1372 located at 290 E State Rte 115, Herscher, IL 60941.

Caseys Gen Store #1372 generated 45 percent of Herscher's March 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Kankakee County's sales that month, which was $1,907,389.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Kankakee County in 2015 were Aroma Park, Saint Anne, Momence, Herscher and Grant Park.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
