Kankakee college offers late-starting MS Office certification courses

Kankakee Community College (KCC) is offering late-starting classes toward Microsoft Office Suite certification training at its extension center in Watseka, according to a press release.

The certificate program, which begins the week of Oct. 16, can be completed in two semesters. KCC offers Microsoft Word and PowerPoint courses in the fall and Excel and Office Suite Integration courses in the spring. All courses are eight weeks long.

According to KCC, the program prepares participants for a working position in the business microcomputer application field, or students can use the coursework for the completion of an associate’s degree or an advanced certificate.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, office assistants can make up to $53,000 a year, depending on work experience and location. The average assistant makes $17 an hour.
