Public Comments- None

Board Communications-Mr. Stegall updated the board on the status of the current budget. He stated that revenues are tracking nicely. We are getting all of our general state aide payments and all of the FY 17 mandated categorical payments. We have received notice from the State Board of Education that they will be billing us for the unspent Energy Efficiency grant funds that we have been holding onto. We have budgeted this expenditure as we have been expecting it for the past two years.

Committee Reports-. Mr. Stegall updated the board on the Kankakee Area Special Education Cooperative. Mr. Moraz stated that KCC presented at the last Career Center meeting regarding programs for students leaving the career center to continue their education.

Mr. Stegall asked the board to approve the Levy. He said the overall levy request is $1,974,311. He has not changed the levy since it was presented at the November meeting.

Motion: To adopt the 2017 Tax Levy, as presented. (RC)

Mr. Stegall discussed the Press Pless Policy Issue #96. He stated that it is a very extensive set of policies which he is still reviewing. He stated that he will let them know before the adoption if there is anything significant. He also asked the board to amend Policy #5:330. The policy addresses sick and personal days for non-cert employees not covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Due to the fact that SACHS has a non-cert contract, the policy only affects SAGS employee's.

Mrs. Kolitwenzew addressed proposed changes to the SACHS Course Descriptions. She explained wanting to allow for the addition of Calculus AP, Economics, Psychology, and Sociology and Agriculture SAE. The enrollment numbers will determine if the classes will ultimately be offered in the schedule. The current enrollment is down 20-24 students in the last two years, which drives the schedule offerings.

Mr. Stegall stated that work on the baseball fields is at a standstill during the winter months but is almost complete. Mr. Stegall shared with the board some estimates for new scoreboards for baseball, softball and soccer. He asked the board to look them over and let him know if they would be interested in gathering further information and allowing the building committee to meet and possibly bring a recommendation to the board. The board agreed to move forward.

Mr. Stegall asked the board to approve declaring an individual student's Ipad as excess equipment so the district can sell it to the student.

Mrs. Kolitwenzew stated that the guidance office released the final's exemption list today with around 100 student qualified to be exempt from taking finals based on attendance. The senior seminar continues to be very well received by students. This month, Daphne Jackson from Operator's Union 150 presented to the students and spent time with a group of students discussing career opportunities.

Title I has offered Math Lab and Writing Studio's this month to students needing assistance.

Mrs. Kolitwenzew and Mrs. Wieczorek presented in St. Charles at the “Raising Student Achievement Conference'. Their presentation was shared with other district's on our success in K-12 vertical alignment in all grades and specifically the improvement in the freshman students during their first semester in high school.

Mrs. Kolitwenzew shared the names of the students named “Student of the Month'. She discussed some of the local donations from our student body and community involvement. She stated that the strength and conditioning staff met with some of the community members that use the high school's work out room to show them some of the new equipment.

The new letter “A” is up and working on the outside of the gym. Big thanks to everyone involved in the project.

Mr. Stegall stated that there was no reason to go into executive session.
