Momence City Council met March 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 N. Dixie Highway, Momence. Mayor Chuck Steele called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Carbonaro, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope were present. Also present was Mayor Steele. Alderman Metz and Salomone were absent.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Cook made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 5, 2018 council meeting.

Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Carbonaro, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed at tonight's Budget and Finance Committee Meeting. Alderman Cope made a motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Carbonaro, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

CITZEN FORUM

1. Elizabeth Crouch – Request for street closures for Heritage Day - Chairman of Heritage Day this year. Saturday, June 9, 2018 Requesting the closure of E Washington for the event 11am – 6 PM Also, includes Locust in front of the Library 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM and the back half of Washington for vendors from 11 AM – 6PM. They are at 80% business approval. Alderman Rehmer made a motion to approve the street closures pending the 100% approval of the remaining businesses. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Alderman Carbonaro, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

ALDERMANIC REPORTS

Alderman Temple received an email about Water Street and Franklin, needing some road work completed. Mayor is stating that there were some repairs made this week.

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Chief Brucato – applied for a step ramp with IDOT, this will aid in enforcing with seatbelts, cell phones, DUIs. Chief is waiting to hear back.

Treasurer Report – CDs 6 will be transferring from Midland to Municipal. Half will go to 15 months, the other half at 25 months. The account agreement has been signed for transferring the general fund to Midland, looking for the end of April as long as everything balances

MAYORAL REPORT

1. Proclamation for Heritage Day Mayor Steele proclaims the second week of June as Heritage week, 2nd weekend of June as Heritage Weekend, specifically the second Saturday of June each year as Heritage Day.

2. Discuss and Vote on Funds for Main Street Momence Fee to Illinois Main Street this has been cancelled.

Mayor Steele requested a motion to move into Executive Session. Alderman Rehmer made motion to move into Executive session, Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Alderman Carbonaro, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 7:46 P.M.

Re-entered Council meeting at 8:06 P.M., Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn. Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion with Alderman Cope, Temple, Cook, Rehmer, Clark and Carbonaro voting yes.
