Sen. Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington) rightfully remembered fallen Ash-Clif Ambulance Service first responder Dana Schoolman.
At the May 10 Senate floor debate, Barickman presented SJR8, which titles a section of US Route 45 to Illinois State Route 116 as the "Firefighter Dana Schoolman Memorial Highway.”
“I would like to thank Sen. (Martin) Sandoval (D-Cicero) and Sen. (Karen) McConnaughay (R-St. Charles) for their help in advancing this resolution, which is very important in my district,” Barickman said.

Schoolman was fatally injured in the line of duty in 1988 responding to a medical emergency call in his personal automobile, according to the bill text.
“He lost control on the ice and snow-covered roadway near the intersection of U.S. Route 45 and Iroquois County Road 2400 North and died from injuries sustained in the accident,” the bill text reads of the 31-year-old first responder.
SJR8 passed 52-0.
