Bourbonnais FPD responds to 57 fires in 2017

Bourbonnais Fire Protection District responded to 246 calls in 2017 - 4.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Bourbonnais included 57 fires - 28 structure fires, 12 vehicle fires and 17 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $180,650 in fire loss - or about $3,169 per fire.

The department also received 187 false calls, including 10 malicious calls and 177 other false calls.

The Bourbonnais Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $2,669,557 in 2017.

The Bourbonnais FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 12 active employees and three retired or inactive employees, was $26,077 positive as of May 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $522 for every fire in 2016.
