City of Momence City Council met December 3. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the council:

          The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 N. Dixie Highway, Momence. Mayor Chuck Steele called the meeting to order.

Roll Call

          Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope.

          Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes

          Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 19, 2018 council meeting with the correction to the police committee minutes and the council minutes. Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Temple and Cope voting yes. Alderman Cook passed.

Approval of the Bills

                    The bills were discussed at tonight's Budget and Finance Committee Meeting. Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Aldermanic Reports

                    Jake Salomone – Discuss and Vote Tax Levy 2018-2019 Ordinance - $356794.10, 4.99%. Ordinance number 845. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve, Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes. Budget and Finance meeting, December 17, 7:15 PM Nova Metz – requested executive session, employment/compensation of specific employees not to come out to do business.

Treasurer report – nothing

Department Heads –

Scott -indicated leave pick up is still happening, will continue as long as weather permits or until leaves are gone. Scaffolding fell, no one was hurt but did take out a light pole and 2 of the new speakers from the sound system.

Tina - IMRF employer costs are going down to 4.66 from 8.07 beginning January 1

                    1. Mayoral Report –Christy Ritter -Filing Period for Consolidated Election Dec. 10-17th

                    2. Removal of Plan Commission Committee Member - Brian Schenpf is requested to be removed, to be replaced by Kelly Hardy. Alderman Cook made motion to approve Kelly Hardy, Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cook voting yes.

Alderman Metz inquired if Chief Brucato will be present at the next meeting. Mayor indicated that he should be present, Alderman Metz cancelled executive session and will hold off until next meeting.

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn, Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.
