Momence City Council met Jan. 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 N. Dixie Highway, Momence. Mayor Chuck Steele called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Rehmer made a motion to approve the minutes of the December 17, 2018 council meeting. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed at tonight's Budget and Finance Committee Meeting.

Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

CITZEN FORUM - Mayor spoke about the development of the Sterling Meadows subdivision. He indicated that he does not have answers to all the questions. The company has resubmitted an application for the development. They have indicated that they would be willing to come in for a meeting to discuss with the community, answer any questions there may be, etc.

Sherry Smart, 960 Louise Drive, spoke. There was neighborhood meeting, indicated that the community is not for the project. They are not opposed to growth, but want it to remain zoned as R1. How did the company solicit the area of Momence? Mayor indicated that the company contacted him.

OLD BUSINESS

ALDERMANIC REPORTS

Alderman Salomone – BF meeting January 21, 7:15 PM

Alderman Metz – Water and Sewer meeting tonight, discussed omni. The vote will be during the next meeting January 21

Treasurer report – 2018 annual financial report is now on file at city hall. Municipal needs approved minutes from council requesting that Lori Schultz be removed from all bank accounts. Mayor Steele noted and asked for the motion to remove Lori Schultz from all city bank accounts at Municipal and Midland Banks. Alderman Salomone made the motion, Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Alderman Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple, Cope voting yes. Jenene also requested a meeting with Alderman Temple and Mayor Steele.

Department Heads –

MAYORAL REPORT

Mayor requested executive session regarding employment and compensation of the public body not to come out to do business. Also requested Tina Demack and Chief Brucato to stay for the executive session. Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn into executive session, Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Executive session 7:48 PM

Returned from executive session 8:17 PM Alderman Salomone made motion to enter open session, Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn, Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 8:22 P.M.
