Momence City Council met March 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 N. Dixie Highway, Momence. Mayor Chuck Steele called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cope, Temple and Cope.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Metz made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 18, 2019 council meeting. Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Temple and Cope voting yes. Alderman Cook passed.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed at tonight's Budget and Finance Committee Meeting.

Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

CITZEN FORUM –

Larry Crouch – Street closings June 8th Heritage Days requests –

Waiving fees for peddler permits, closing of street during the hours of 8am – 12am E Washington Street from Locust Street we to the alley for vendor booths, music performances and a street dance in the evening. Allowing of the celebration at city hall, first floor commons for exhibits and booths. Trolley service will be available, the route yet to be determined Alderman Cook made motion to approve, Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

J. Loftus – Momence Main Street plaque program – determining where the plaque will be placed on City Hall. Alderman Cook made motion to approve working with the community improvement for the program. Alderman Cope seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

OLD BUSINESS –

ALDERMANIC REPORTS –

Nova Metz – Momence High School softball team will be having a tag day on Saturday, April 20, 8am – 11:30am at 3 locations in the city. Alderman Metz made a motion to approve, Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Water tower lighting – council agreed to finding out the cost of what lighting would be. 

Jake Salomone – BF meeting, March 18 7:15 pm

Treasurer report – audit with Bob being worked

Department Heads – Scott Behrends – pot holes are being worked on as the weather permits – Street and Alley meeting on Monday, March 18 6:45 PM

Tina Demack – received several resumes, going through the process

MAYORAL REPORT

Mayor requested executive session to not come out and do business due to employment and compensation of the public body. Alderman Cook made motion to go into executive session, Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Meeting adjourned 7:49PM

Re-entered public meeting at 8:02

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn, Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.
